Unexpected Complications!!

On May 6th I had to have part of my tailbone removed. After 3 fractures over 15 years it would just not heal. The surgery went fairly well, just alot of pain. I went to a post-op appointment on Friday May 22nd. I was feeling alot worse and in alot of pain. I ended up going septic by about 10:00 that night and had to be Life Flighted to LDS Hospital in Salt Lake.(MY first helicopter ride and I don't remember a thing about it!!) After about 18 hours in the ICU, they were able to move me to the intermediate care floor. They found that I had an abcess by the surgical site. They ent in and drained the abcess. It was only filled with blood, not pus like they had thought. If it had been that, they were going to put a drain in and leave it for 10-14 days. It is feeling so much better and I was able to leave alot faster than the Dr.'s had thought I would. THankfully I am doing so much better and am actually going to leave for Girls' State on Sun. morning. I know that the reason I was able to heal so fast was because Lane was able to give me a blessing before I left on Life Flight. I am so thankful for the Priesthood in our home. Lane is such a strenth to me, So is my Parents. I was so suprised when Jeff and Heather came to see me Sat. afternoon, then Krista and Lance drove almost 4 hours one way to see me. My mom and dad came down, then Aunt Tiana, Brock, Brandon and Lizzie also came. It is so nice to have such an out pouring of love and support at this time. Thanks!!!

UNCLE BUCK

This is Uncle Buck. I was looking at some old pics. and found this one. Lane bought this dog as a pup for his brother Lee after his house burned down. Lee loves this dog more than anything. (He is single if you happen to know a great gal) Buck is so calm and sweet. My kids love him and as you can tell ride on him. He is HUGE.

lambing came in like a lion... or is that supposed to be march????

The last few weeks have been unreal to say the least. Lambing started as soon as shearing ended. (Supposedly a few days in between is what we schedule, but the shearing crew is ALWAYS late, thus pushing the end of shearing and the start of lambing right together). Then our lovely Utah weather is having an el nina party of it's own this year. Last Sunday it was rainy and the wind was blowing very hard in the morning. Then it snowed,some of the BIGGEST snnowflakes I have ever seen. Then the sun came out and melted the snow, then it snowed again!!!! We have spent alot of time on our knees asking for better weather. Lane came home Monday night with a temp. of 103.1!!! But could I convince him to see a Dr? Nooooo. So only 5 days into lambing he was already exhausted.
It's hard to have him be gone 20 hours a day. It's even harder on our girls. I think they get sick of being with mommy all day. Cooper gets to ride the 4-wheeler out to the sheds (after we get done feeding the 11 dogs that are still here at home) and work with his dad for about 3 hours. He's growing up way to fast. But he is a really hard worker and is learning the sheep ranching business at his fathers knees (literally). Next week he goes and picks out his fair pigs. I'm really not ready for that to start. If the weather was warmer and I could take the girls out in the wagon, life would be alot easier for me. Thankfully we have aunt Becca. I would be so lost without her help.
Now I get to do the grocery shopping for our 4 sheepherders, wire their money to Peru, and odd little jobs. I don't mind doing it, I get to go to the grocery store late at night and I listen to my I-pod while I shop. I reall cherish that "alone" time. Hopefully I'll get some pics. up soon of the kids and from the lambing sheds. It's late and I feel like I am rambling on. I'm going to bed.

Shearing is almost over!!

Despite the rain and snow and Sunday, we were able to shear today. We still have about 300 ewes left to be sheared. Because I am so new at this (and trying to figure out how to add and move or replace pictures) the shearing pictures are backwards cronologically. I love living on the ranch. It's a wonderful way to raise our children. Cooper is a very hard worker and enjoys going to help his Dad. I hope by posting this you can see what our life is like during the spring time. (CRAZY!!!!) We will start lambing on Friday. Then it goes to 20 hour work days for Lane. Hopefully I will be able to keep posting events as they happen. Unless they bore you out of your mind. Then I'll probably keep doing it anyway:)

Newborn Lamb and his Mama

This lamb was born early. He decided to make his apperance while his mama was in the corral waiting to be sheared. We had to keep them seperated from the rest of the sheep until they could go to the lambing sheds.

Baa Baa black sheep has alot of bags of wool.

Here the wool is put into the tromper. The big white squares are the bales of pressed wool. They weigh between 350 to 400 Pounds. We will have about 50 bales of wool when we are done.
